We had an amazing night and were extremely impressed with the amount of effort that had gone into such a fabulous night.
The decoration of the hall was lovely. The food, service and professionalism of the wait staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble for them, they were polite friendly and helpful.
Thank you again for a lovely evening and all your hard work
Over the past five years, Yvonne has attended as a guest speaker at Kensington and Chelsea College talking with students studying on the Foundation Degree in Early Years, particularly related to one of the study modules’ Ethical Practice, Child Protection and Safeguarding Children.
Yvonne explores and critically reflects on her personal and professional lived experience as a survivor of ‘child sexual abuse’ as a young child to the present day. Yvonne has explored aspects related to her reflections around values and beliefs in terms of the taboo in talking about child sexual abuse, the family, multi-agency working, legal and ethical factors, procedures and practices to protect and safeguard children moreover, ‘her voice’ as a child living and coping with child sexual abuse.
Yvonne’s tireless efforts to promote dialogue on the subject of child sexual abuse is paramount to our students learning and development as she plays a valuable role in putting the subject matter of child sexual abuse into ‘real context’ for the students studying on the Early Years Foundation Degree.’
From this talk with Yvonne, I have been enlightened on where the breaks are in the government system with practitioners helping children.
Having someone share such a powerful testimony has definitely shown me what I need to do as an early years practitioner in training.
Yvonne has been very insightful about sharing her story. It has helped me understand on a deeper level the impact abuse can have, and what we can do as professionals to better our practice.
I found the ‘supporting young people harmed through familial sexual abuse’ workshop extremely insightful. Your personal experience made it very impactful and has left a lasting impression on how I, as a CAMHS nurse can do better in supporting the young people who I work with who have also experienced familial sexual abuse.
Yvonne came to talk to our independent visitors and her talk was well received. She gave an honest description of how the sexual abuse she suffered as a child took place and how it affected her then and now. However much training you have about childhood abuse, it is theoretical. To hear from someone who is willing to share the pain of what happened to them makes you realise what it actually means in emotional terms for a sufferer, as the person is standing in front of you telling their story. I was deeply moved by Yvonne’s presentation, and I know the independent visitor group felt privileged to hear from her in person.
I wish to thank you for your deliverance of three MST training sessions to my pool of trainers. I found you courteous and professional at all times. Your training was delivered with impact, content, examples with delegates engagement and at a good pace.
You showed further resilience when there were technical issues (which were beyond your control) which showed your professionalism and calm manner.
I have no hesitation in recommending Yeme Empowerment for training.
The most difficult but brilliant 90 minutes I’ve spent in a while
Yvonne’s journey is inspirational, and the workshop really made me think about self-care
I learnt how much power we have within ourselves to grown and improve our lives
Yvonne attended our foster carer support group this week and her audience were captivated by the way she told her story and shared her journey into the care system as a teenager. Yvonne has the extraordinary ability to bring life a child’s experiences in a way that no written work can do. A much appreciated and thought-provoking presentation
I was truly impressed by Yvonne’s presentation. It was a masterclass and succinctly delivered. Every minute was packed with valuable insights and takeaways. Yvonne’s ability to condense complex concepts into easily digestible nuggets of wisdom was remarkable. Her lived experience added an authentic touch, allowing us to connect with the subject matter on a personal level. We will be inviting her back.
